Supporting communities during COVID-19

As an essential services provider, we understand the impact COVID-19 is having on our customers and their families at home across the North Island, who now more than ever, need a consistent supply of energy.

To reassure customers about the work we’re doing in the community to keep the power on and gas flowing, we launched a multi-channel awareness campaign in April 2020.

Ensuring that people at home know we’re working to maintain the safety and reliability of our network offers some comfort during this difficult time, Customer and Communications Strategy Manager Oli Vincent says.

“It’s a stressful time and we’re committed to supporting our communities. Carrying out essential maintenance and emergency repair work ensures we can continue to provide our customers with a reliable supply of energy. We know it’s not easy for people, including those who are working from home.

“The safety of our crews is also a priority and we thank our customers for respecting social distancing requirements and being patient while they work,” Oli Vincent says.

The campaign went live across digital and social channels and included video messages from GM Service Delivery and System Operations for Powerco’s electricity business, Ian Skipworth and General Manager Gas, Stuart Dickson.

Adverts appeared in major newspapers this week, including Dominion Post, Waikato Times and Taranaki Daily News.

Our messages also engaged listeners of Newstalk ZB across seven different regions (Coromandel, Whanganui, Masterton, Kapiti / Horowhenua, Tauranga, Manawatu and Taranaki).
